Pacific Proud to Support Sodexo in the Fight Against Hunger

in Company News

Recently, the team at Pacific Floorcare® supported their friends Sodexo at the 16th Annual Sodexo Foundation Dinner. The event raised over $1 million for the fight against child hunger.

In the U.S. alone, there are over 16 million children who are underfed. The Sodexo Foundation is working to ensure that every child has nutritious food and can lead a healthy productive life.

“People always talk about the idea of ‘doing good while doing business’ and the Sodexo Foundation is one of the most exemplary examples of that philosophy. It is inspiring to see what can be done to lead the charge against hunger and Pacific is honored to have contributed in a small way as a Sodexo partner,” said Kyle Strait, VP of Sales and Marketing for Pacific.

Describing the evening as inspiring may be an understatement. The evening began by learning about some of the amazing work that the winners of the Stephen J. Brady Stop Hunger Scholarship are doing in the community to battle hunger.

Next, the attendees learned about Sodexo partner Food Recovery Network and how their mission to turn wasted food into meals has done wonders across the nation to feed children in need.

Lastly, Sodexo honored their Heroes of Everyday Life. These are Sodexo employees who have gone above and beyond to support the cause, doing everything from sleeping in boxes to raise money to feeding the homeless. This is quite an honor considering that Sodexo has 122,000 employees in the U.S. alone.

A new award was presented at this year’s foundation dinner called the Starting Small, Dreaming Big Award. The award went to an employee who made a special impact on his or her entire community.

By the end of the event, $1,090,000 was raised for the Sodexo Foundation. While that amount of money will go a long way towards feeling America’s youth, the larger impact was inspiring every attendee by example to do his or her part to help end child hunger in America. There’s plenty of food out there, all it takes is a little effort to get it in the right hands.
